Saveloys and fried cabbage.?

Our main course fro Christmas dinnerwill be saveloys and fried cabbage.

I'm tired of potatoes for the starch course, would buttered parsnips be too sweet?

I think parsnips would be great. You can boil them, pan fry them or sprinkle with olive oil and roast them.
