I live in Chicago, grew up with the great pizza here...sometimes I'm amazed at what people around the country call " pizza"!! New York and N.J. do pretty good, real ethnic recipes( I guess)...but some places are tomato soupy or loaded with extra ingredients that just destroy the " consistency" of a good pizza.
In Chicago the thincrust ( classic) bests are at Nick& Vitos,Fox's (So.Side).... Ricobene's (26th st.) .... Red Tomato ( was Logalbo's.)and Leona's ( better before expansion but still up there) two No. Side places

I travel a lot and have pizza at many of the recommended pizza places in NY and Chicago. Both are famous for a reason they are wonderful. I would have to give the title best pizza to Chicago.
