none there off 20% in steps at least, but google your local area, and 5 miles is usually 8000 to 12000 steps a day is how Ive done for the last 3 years. If a pedometer gets you walking then im all for walking now days.

I really don't know, but here's a hint: it depends on how steady your gait is. A friend of mine used one when we went camping and thought it was way off. I thought a bit and said that it was right on--if he was taking twenty foot strides. Then I thought a bit longer and realized that wearing a backpack steadies you enough that it doesn't register most steps, only the ones where you jolt a bit more. It probably counted every step over rocky parts, and none at all on smooth trail.
