I prefer a traditional cork. I have read that plastic corks allow the wine to last longer in the bottle, but I like the old school verision..

Composite corks (is that what you are referring to when you write "plastic cork"?). They keep the romance into opening the bottle while protecting the wine from bacteria that wood corks sometimes have.

I prefer REAL cork but if it's only available in plastic I still buy it if I really want the wine.

I prefer real cork but I don't mind plastic. I'm not sure about anywhere else but here in Europe winemakers are using recycled cork and the public is encouraged to collect corks and give them to be recycled.

i think the real corks are more classic, but when one breaks off bits into your wine and makes you have to fish out cork bits from fine wine with a spoon, it makes me wish they were all plastic. My sister is a winemaker and it seems like almost all companies are moving to plastic.

i prefer real cork for sentimentality. but honestly I could care less if it is real, synthetic, screw cap. as long as the wine in the bottle is good, it doesn't matter.
