Who was Machilzadeck?

The Bible says that Machilzadick is some awsome being, does anyone no?

Genesis 14:18-20 states:

Melchizedek, king of Salem, brought out bread and wine, and being a priest of God Most High, he blessed Abram (Abraham) with these words: Blessed be Abram by God Most High, the creator of heaven and earth; And blessed be God Most High, who delivered your foes into your hand."

Then the Letter to the Hebrews chapters 5-7, describes Jesus as a high priest like Melchizedek who offered of bread and wine.
