Sauli Niinistö, a director at the European Investment bank warns Finland that the world is facing a "shift in power", and that Finland should take necessary safety precautions.
According to Sauli, the Chinese can bring USA to its knees by ceasing to buy dollars, destroying the US economy in one strike. This is a part of a formal warning to the Finnish government to be wary of the future security situation in the world.
Is it so ironic that the US generous defence spending has placed the country under the overlordship of China, defeating the very purpose of that spending?
It is bad news for NATO countries, as this could mean the alliance offers little or no protection against the Asian giant. I predict that the development of the internal defence of the EU will accelerate in light of this.
How do you view the security situation in the light of the US debt to China? Is it as grave as good ol' Sauli (lost the presidential race) Niinistö would have it?

Actually, people have calculated the effect of a collapse of the US market. Apparantly growth in the EU regions as well as India/China is enough to prevent a world-wide depression, though I am not as sure as you seem to be as what would China's situation be. Obviously, China doesn't want the dollar to collapse- it's a shareholder of it, so to speak.
Still, I am worried about the overstretched dollar. I have no idea how you have let yourself become virtually dependent of China- here in Finland it is always an issue where we get our goods from, just before entering the EU we were self-sufficient as a matter of principle (in case of ww3, actually) and we still watch our imports... However, we export significantly more than we import, so... *shrug*.

And just why would China cease trade with it's numero uno trading partner the US? Why do think China's economy is expanding at a rate never seen before. Sure, the US and China have idelogical disparities but when it come to money do you honestly think one sde or the other would voluntarily end such a mutually benfical relationship? It's completely illogical. Sauli is being an alarmist for reasons I can speculate upon, but my guess would be to sell a book or two . Do not believe everything you hear, no matter where you hear it from. Use your own common sense to decide if it's just or if it's BS.

These are all the action of our own politicians. It was Woodrow Wilson that gave us the Federal Reserve System, to create inflatable currency to help pay government debt.
Richard Nixon began the betrayal of our ally, Taiwan, and the building of Communist China into a super power. Now, it is hard to find anything in our stores not made in China.
The next attack on our economy was NAFTA and GATT, further transforming us into a market economy. Now, Bush the Younger is pushing for a North American Union, merging us with Canada and Mexico.
We need to get our manufacturing base back. We need import tariffs to protect American manufacturing, which can't compete against slave labor.
We need to return to a gold backed dollar. We need to withdraw from the United Nations and any other foreign entanglements. The more contact the American people have with the people of other nations, and the less contact our governments have, the less wars we will have.

Ok what needs to be understood is the fact that it doesn't matter if the Chinese messes with the US or visa versa (its a two way street here, the chinese are in as much debt and need to the US as the US is to them) but what happens is if either one does anything the other will start calling in their loans, between the US and China 70% of the world is in debt to atleast one, if not both, of the nations, so it would cause an international finatial crisis if either country tries using its finatial clout for political gain.

US in bed with China, and vice versa. Chinese hold the money, and the Americans willing to comsume thier goods china makes. China is just exporting massive amounts of goods to the USA to build instructure for thier country. China is not evil, and USA is not ethier, but both Cheated to grow thier markets. Even if China cut off trade with USA doesn mean Uncle Sam has other options besides China, And the USA is resource rich nation. In long term China and Untied States, will argue over trade goodies like Cheese, Milk , soybean, instead of worrying about NK or the middle east. China inplodes USA coming along with it, and USA economy stalls China comes along for the ride.

Thank you for asking this question, in my opinion You do give me a sick symptom. The American still not know what is going on. Everyone goes to Wal Mart for cheap stuffs and now American is in trade deficits with China. It is about 187 billion and The Chinese ordered less than 1/4 of the export from the U.S. I have no idea why the government does not do anything about it. By the way,we let the Chinese do the cheap labor and let go of our old American jobs. Well I urge American to do his or her part. Buy American made products, and use American products for a change. If we 300 million people stop buying only 1 piece of product from outside U.S. then we reduce trade deficit down.At the same time write Congress, White House, and Senate for a new law blocking company move oversea for cheap labor.
