If his record was expunged then isn't he innocent of any crime. You can't call him a sex offender if he is an innocent man and you cant allow the stigma of false accusations to ruin the life of an innocent man.
Did he sexually assault you? What makes you so sure the law is wrong and he is guilty?
If he didn't do it he has every right to do whatever he wants with his life for example, become a police officer. If he did do it then the law is f**cked, but it's the law all the same and he will always be seen as innocent of that crime in its eyes.
Karma.

I'm not from America so checked a bit about records being expunged, this is what I found......
"Theoretically, federal law allows persons convicted of felonies in a federal United States district court to apply to have their record expunged after a certain period of time with a clean record. However, the U.S. Congress has refused to fund the federal agency mandated with handling the applications of convicted felons to have their record expunged. This means that, in practice, federal felons cannot have their records expunged."

I have a hard time believing this is happening in the USA... and the poster didn't specify... that's speculation.
Why don't I believe it? Unless a police department is so small as to have NO funding for background investigations, police officer candidates must complete background investigations before they are hired. The investigations are very extensive, and include Department of Justice access to criminal records... which includes even expunged convictions.
So.... it's either NOT in the US, or it's a Department that doesn't have a very good hiring process...

Well, If his record was expunged there was a good reasone for it. Likley there were other circumstances you are not aware of.
In a town not far from where i live, a 16 year old student reffered to one of his female teachers useing a term that is correctly used for a female dog. And over zealous and extreame republican principle and district attorney ended up getting him tried for 3rd degree sexual assault.
5 years latter he wanted to become a police officer and had to recieve a pardon from the governor before he could become a cop.
Just another example of wacko Neo-Cons run wild.

If his record was expunged then the court is treating him like it never happened. if you were to make it publicly known he can sue you. Background checks are not going to delve into expunged records. Courts won't allow it so no one on the police force will know he was a sex offender. thank the liberals.

you're asking for a chum yet you are the single that has to sign in? Lol, paintings on your hypothetical questions. interior the interim, no, you won't be able to grow to be a police officer in case you have been stumbled on answerable for any criminal or misdemeanor. In english, in case you have have been given something greater desirable than a site visitors cost ticket on your record, you're screwed.

I hope that didn't happen. Because that is all we need is a sex offender with a badge, gun, and power. I would call the chief, get petitions started for his dismissal, etc. I would not sleep till he got fired...
is this real or just a hypothetical question?

don't you know that cops have a different set of rules, when they passed the law where ex felons or any one who had a charge of domestic violence could not carry a gun they had to make all cops exempt from that rule, check it out at west law
