Christians aren't religious people, or at least they shouldn't be,
you're right, religion is kind of like a mousetrap, but if you truly had a relationship with God it's nothing close to a mousetrap, more like something to stop you from going into a mousetrap
so remeber, religion never saved anyone, only God can do that

Buddhism isn't a religion (no god). Any religion that relies on a book of rules that require serious interpretation is going to mess with peoples thinking because the very act of interpretation raises issues that cannot be resolved
