I am considering a new drug called Cymbalta, mostly for depression/Bipolar disorder. If you've tried this, please tell me what your experience was like with it. Did it work better than any of the other drugs you've been on? I have been on prozac, zoloft, paxil, wellbutrin, effexor, and prozac is the only one I've taken for years, and its effects seem to be wearing off. I'm wondering how Cymbalta would work for my mood swings, and overall depression.

Cymbalta is only for the depression side of the bipolar disorder. It should be paired with a mood stabilizer for the manic episodes. I am on Cymbalta and Topamax. I have been on all of the antidepressants you listed plus a few and this one seems to work well with the bipolar.

I'm on cymbalta and have been for the past 4-5 months. I was 60mg for a while and then finally went up to 120mg a couple months ago. Seems to be working ok for me. I really need to find something for my anxiety though as this drug is only dealing with the depression. (I have Depression, not bipolar disorder.) All in all I'd say you should try it. I've been through all the SSRIs and this one is just as effective for me as the others.

I've taken all those you've mentioned and many more.
Cymbalta for me has had a lower side effect profile than any of those other meds you mentioned. However, and you probably allready know this, you would do yourself a huge favor by accepting that everyone is going to react differently to different meds. Each of our brains are too infinitely unique and the science of understanding the brain is too basic at present times to be able to tell which med will work best for you without you just trialing them, trust me. You just need to try them out.
Have you tried any anti-convulsant meds? In my understanding many of the antidepressants especially ssri's, often make people with bi-polar even more manic. I know most of them do just that to me.

I don't know, but my sister takes it, and man does she have serious mood swings while on it!
