Your logic is definitely correct. Why keep troops in Germany at this time? Why keep troops in Kosovo? I can understand keeping them in S. Korea but why Japan? Pull them out of Iraq as well.

To begin, there are Constitutional prohibitions preventing the military from conducting civil enforcement within the borders of the United States. Having said that though, there are currently about 6,000 National Guard troops deployed along the southwestern border. They can be deployed due to the National Guard mandate permits them to reinforce and assist civil authorities more readily than the more restricted federalized components of the military.
The Guard's job is to assist enforcement efforts through observation and reporting, training, construction of roads and fencing, freeing agents from less critical tasking so that they may be redeployed, etc. Notice that none of that includes taking enforcement action. It is also important to note that National Guard units have a different mandate than federalized military units and can therefore provide support that the federalized components cannot.
What most people don't realize is that immigration law is the most difficult to enforce. Even tax code is more simplified. For example, there is a place in Mexico that was part of the United States until about 50 years ago. Due to changes in the border that area was turned over the Mexico. Someone entering the United States that grew up in this area might just be a U.S. citizen. There are dozens of such concerns derived from treaties, court decisions, temporary protected status grants, etc. This requires a highly trained officer to deal with.

We have troops in those locations so they can respond to threats against the U.S. and our allies. Some troops that have been stationed in those areas have already moved back to the states. However, why not put the National Guard on the borders? Or maybe the reservists. How about giving the border patrol and customs more people so they can deal with that issue?
Overall it is the job of the border patrol to protect our borders. So, NO....do not pull troops from overseas. We don't need to do that yet.

We have far more then 25,000 troops already here at home. According to law (and the Constitution, I believe), the US military has no authority or jurisdiction inside the United States. It is simply to protect us from other threats. It is a National Guard matter. Truly the only way to stop the problem is to pull a Pancho Villa Expedition. We need to cross the border, find the bastards and kill them. The only reason the cartels are attacking Mexico is because Mexico is stopping them from feeding America's habit. When our citizens buy drugs, they cost people in Mexico their lives. Its a shame too.

President Bush announced a troop realignment in 2004 that includes withdrawing forces from Germany and South Korea.
It's a significant reduction in troops stationed overseas although not a complete withdrawal.
Other countries may be involved too. I'm assuming that the process is ongoing. Not sure however.

I have to agree with you. If there is some actual reason for the U.S. to maintain a base in a specific foreign locale then fine, but if there isn't then it should be closed. When the Defense Department closed several installations across the United States in the 1980's and 90's it should have been looking at obsolete foreign bases first.

The U.S. government intentionally "opened" the borders to frustrate the american people. In order to create a "cashless" society and have Full Control they also let this happen to induct us further into their control! Nero burned Rome, blamed it on the Christians! Hitler burned the Rischtag, blamed it on the Jews! Get the point? It`s nothing new! The U.S. Government destroyed the Fed Bld in OKC! Not McVie! The govt also were "MAJORLY" involved in 911,taking known terrorist`s names off the flying list`s,giving them "flying Lessons" etc, etc. Check out the following site,EDUCATE Yourself!

Because when we kicked Germany's *** in WWII we took away their right to maintain a standing army. And as I am sure you can figure out, if the U.S. isn't around to hold strength, some a*shole moves into the power vacuum.

Right now in Germany closing many bases. Army myself. My concerns is some of them going back to US and signing in for their new job and just like that they need to go back to Iraq or Afghanistan again.
Pentagon make all these organizations. I don't get it, are you so scared in US? Do you want to have many soldiers round your house? Don't be scared about safety stuff enjoy your life and make the best of it.
