Don't guess; I can do that as good as anyone.

When I was a kid in the 80s, we had a VCR. There was one black button called 'STBY' (obviously for standby), that scared me because it did strange things. This was nothing though compared to an orange button right next to it called 'OSD' I believe. I know it started with an 'O' at least! Whenever you'd press it the VCR would record and refuse to eject the tape. Even when you cycled power. What was this thing?

haha some creepy 'technology advancement' from the 80's i assume..i dont have one of those buttons on my old school vcr. gotta love the 80's.

OSD would have stood for "On Screen Display". Looks like the VCR was faulty if it caused that behaviour

I have a VCR in a spare bedroom. I just checked it and it had neither of those buttons on it.
