it really depends on your own personal tastes. I've been drinking more pinot noir lately mostly from central CA. the best way to find a good tasting wine is to do a wine tasting at a wine bar or pick up a few different wines and invite some friends over for a tasting party.white wines are usually better chilled and reds are usually served at room temp. opened bottles should probably be drank within a week or so. reds store longer than white wines in a cool dark location, most wine will eventually go bad unless you're a collector with climate controlled storage. as for the hang over if i've had a little to much to drink I'll take 2-3 advil and 2 glasses of water before I go to bed.

well I like the Ravenswood old vine Zinfindel. In fact I am drinking it right now. It is a red wine that is kind of strong, but very full bodied. It goes for around 15 dollars, and you do not chill red wine. It takes away from the flavor. That is a no no. Try it and let me know how you like it.
It will keep out in the open for awhile, as long as you put the cork back in it. :-)

a great red wine is ROSA REGALE by BANFI. It's very refreshing, and goes great with anything. I've kept it in the fridge for a few months. It's about $24 to $28 a bottle, depending on where you go. You can't find it everywhere.

I like Arbor Mist white zinfandel. Its a pretty decent white wine. It doesn't give me hangovers. But when I do drink, I don't have much. Another good white zinfandel is made by Sutter Homes.
