No, Catholics way back when they first started out took many things from pagan beliefs, including the holidy currently known as Christmas. It is not only very close to the Pagan Winter Solstace holiday, but is also the birthdate of two pagan deities. I cannot remember their names as they are not from my religion, howver I do know people who do believe in them. The catholics took many things that was good about the pagan beliefs that did not nescisarily go against what the catholics themselves believed in and made it part of christianity to try and belittle the Pagan belief system, say "Look we have that too!" Also their is no indication of what the date it was when Jesus was supposed to have been born, so it is a 1/365 chance they got it right, that is provideing he was even real.

Good on you Jess,
Jesus Christ is the reason for every thing. He is the Way; the Truth; and the Life.

I think God allows this Christmas Season to exist the way it does for His reasons. His Will be done. It would not be if not for Him.

But I say, know the truth of what really occurred on the day the world calls Christmas. Teach the children of the day the angel Gabriel visited Mary and the Holy Ghost dwelled with her and a conception took place. God was with us at that moment.

Tell the truth and let traditions die for there is no truth in them.><>

i will grant that Jesus is the reason for the celebration o fthe Christian Holiday of CHristmas. but not the reason for the season.

this time of year ahs been a time of celebration for over 10,000 years. long before the God of Aberham was mainstream.

the Jesus being the reason for the season, is starting to sound like a Christian Claim to ownership to this time of year and the holidays celebrated at this time.

from the prespective of a Pagan Priest i am glad that you are celebrating and wish you a merry Christmas. but remember that others are celebrating at this time too, and that you do not have exclusive control over this time of year.

Those of you who believe that the season is for Jesus, you better look again. Santa has pushed Jesus out of the box. Santa is even in the church. I see you with your Christmas Tree in the Church. Satan's tree. Have you forgotten the 10th chapter of Jeremiah. If you celebrate Christmas with the Tree and the gifts, If have a Christmas Reef and a Yule Tide Log (or what ever the hell it's called), If you are dreaming of a white Christmas then you have been duped. If you are trading gifts then you don't believe that "Jesus is the reason for the season."

It's all talk.

No. Many religions, before and after Christianity, celebrate an end of one season and the beginning of a new one, all around the same time period.

yes Jesus is the only reason for this time of year and n e 1 who doesn't believe is a fool. God sent His only begotten Son to this earth and He lived to die some 33 1/2 yrs later on the cross, I believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ , people can mock Him all they want(wouldn't advise it) but all I know is I was lost and know i'm found and my life is a living testimony of it. So if n e one wants that something that you r lookin for , but don't know yet what it is, you've tried sex, drugs, alcohol and n e thing and everthing to fulfill this desire in your heart...well let me tell you it WILL NOT be at peace with anything else other than JESUS CHRIST coming into your heart and making you new again.

Sorry... but nope.

Jesus is YOUR reason for the season, but absolutely NOT the ONLY reason.

I'm a Pagan, and the reason for the season is the Solstice. The birth of the God. (By the way... you guys got this from us... at least at this time of year. Christ wasn't born in December at all.)

The Goddess has filled me with hope.

I guess you could say that anyone who's not a Christian isn't one of His people as his words to them are "Believe that I love you or I'll torture you for Eternity". Nice soft-sell, isn't it?

Faith is very subjective. Yes to some and no to others. I believe that Jesus is the reason for the season!
