Dear Friend,
It can happen with following reason: -
1. May be problem with RAM.
2. Problem with Hard DISK
3. Problem with Processor or SMPS Fan.

I will suggest to run the chkdsk utility first on your hard disk.

First you need XP CD.
In bios you set boot priority from CD
Insert cd in cd drive and boot from cd.
Then it will ask for some option go for the recovery option.
then lastly you give command chkdsk /r
after finishing again boot the machine.

please explain if there is anything on your screen?
do you have the task bar at the bottom?
is your screen blue?
