I agree, its just the world being themselves. I mean I dont mind having a good laugh on here every now and then, but the things some people come up with are uncalled for. Their arguments consist of sarcastic and ridiculous attempts to make anyone who believes in God feel stupid. It hasnt worked yet though im sure they will continue trying. Couldnt we have some logical and unbiased debates?

I don't think these kinds of questions are posted for the sake of making the inquirer "sound smart." It's more a case of pointing out the obvious truth to those who are unable to see it.
If you can understand the complexities of the statement "The Lord works in strange ways," why would you not see that Atheists (and others who might think that Christianity is a silly and small minded belief) are straight forward and completely unlike the Lord in their approach to educating the brain-dead blind-believers of God-based religions.
Atheists (and others) are attempting to point out the truth and they want to be clear about it. A mocking jolt between the ears might just do the trick to wake up and gain the attention of a complacently dulled Christian brain, don't you see? And, if that is the case, when followed by a clear statement of truth, like ... There is no God ... there is a slim chance that YOU might consider that possibility without the aid of your Bible - "The Idiots Guide to Moronic Enlightenment."
So...Why do it? It's a generous and brotherly quest on the part of some Atheists, they're trying to help you, while for the rest of us it's merely a form of intellectual entertainment and a cheap shot at a sheep...
Happy Holidays.

I think you are trying to paint your world with only two colours. I mean that You are on a public forum with all different types of people. Some of them are idiots. Some of them are trolls. Some of them lose patience, some never had patience. You think every person claiming to be an atheist is one? That is wrong. (and using "some" is just using a weasel word.)
I don't assume that every Christian is from the Westboro Church of Fred Phelps. There are Phelps style Christians here, but in spite of their best efforts I have also noticed some, very few but still some, of the religious that have some intelligence and who have at least read the book that they profess to believe.
So why are there some trolls, rude kids, ignoramuses? I don't know. It Must be because they are made in the image of God!

The questions are not meant to make them sound smart, or mock for the sake of mocking, they are generally meant to stimulate some small bit of questioning on the part of the target. Some little HINT of analytical ability or honest appraisal of all the crap they've been taught since they were too young to know better. We know that 99 times out of 100 we'll be ignored, misinterpreted or that we'll invite anger, but we just hope that single 1 out of 100 stops and thinks a bit next time he hears someone quote some trite piece of simplistic scripture and perhaps sees that perhaps blind faith isn't neccessarily a good thing after all...

No they're not meant as mockery. They're asked so that believers might actually think about their beliefs instead of just holding them like teddy bears.
Let's face it, you claim to believe in a being who by all accounts can't exist in any logical sense. He is apparently all knowing, yet he couldn't find his creation in the Garden of Eden when they hid. He's apparently all powerful, yet he can't forgive people unless he transforms into a skinny hippie and has himself nailed to a tree. He's supposedly omnibenevolent, but vengeful and full of such hatred that he'll have his followers kill every man, woman, child and goat they come across while they're out wandering in the desert. He's all loving but will punish someone for all eternity for questioning his existence.
Sorry to say, but the ones who sold you your God, sold you a lemon. He's broken. He doesn't make sense and he has no effect on anything but you and your fellow believers.
Oh, and for the record, we sound smart because we are smart. Do you know why we're smart? Because we use our brains and ask questions to figure things out. We don't carry around a poorly written instruction book and refer to it every time life kicks our feet out from under us.

When Atheists ask questions like that, it's a retaliation against the religions that they feel have done more harm than good. I too am guilty of this. But when a religious person looks down their nose at me for not believing in the same thing that they do, I take offense and lash out the best way that I can. Seeing as I can't take swing at someone through a computer, I post something derogatory. The lesson learned should be that if you don't try to be insulting to the non believers, then they'll leave well enough alone.

Why do you people generalize something one person did as a label for the culture, society, race and etc.Now thats small minded! Not all atheists do that, I don't do it. I expect to be treated with respect therefore, I treat others with respect. I don't mock, but I do use sarcasm to prove my points. Maybe you should stop taking things so litterally because most people aren't moking they are using sarcasm.

The religions often try to keep their followers as sheep, with only a few shepards. What better way to get people to question their belief structure than to ask a question that shocks? It is a way to get the fundamentalists (usually the one who have problems with theoretical questions) to think about their beliefs. Thy will come up with a question that causes one to think of their answer. For a wholly original answer to come out, they must question some of their beliefs. Their mission has been acomplished.

Although I dont believe that ALL Atheists mock the views of other religions, the simple fact that their is no proof of a God (besides the Bible, which was written by man) automatically puts us in the lead of facts. How can you disagree against fact with fiction?
