Thank you for asking that question. You're very brave.

It's not a controversy but I'll call it a controversy just because that's what you called it. The controversy can be explained through America's history. Before Europeans came here, the majority of the population was Native American. Then Europeans came. Europeans illegally came to the U.S., stole the land from the Natives and slaughtered anyone who got in their way. Now as you can expect, the Natives weren't so happy about the new inhabitants who came here. And so, the Natives saw the Europeans the same way that the Europeans see Mexicans (most of America's illegals are Mexican) today; intruders. So, this "controversy" isn't the controversy that people claim it to be. It's history repeating itself. History does repeat itself and no one can stop it from repeating itself. 400 years ago, Europeans came here illegally and became the majority. 400 years later, the Mexicans are doing the same. It's all about the majority wanting to hold power. 400 years ago, Natives wanted to hold power and the Europeans were wrong for trying to take it. 400 years later the same Europeans who stole the land want to hold power and the hispanics want to take it away from them. So it's really the pot (Europeans) calling the kettle (Mexicans) black. Americans are just as wrong as hispanics.

"When people come here without medical clearance and background investigations, we, as a people, are exposing our children to disease and the crime from people we don't even know are here!"

Kind of like all the Native Americans who were killed by European diseases (chicken pox, measles) eh?

'and most have extensive criminal histories in Mexico, and fled here to escape going to a Mexican jail. II'm talking about drug trafficking, sex offenses, domestic violence, extensive drug and alcohol use, and homicide, And our "system" doesn't even know they're here... (which gets more confusing when they provide different ID every time they get booked in jail!)'

Did you know that many of the Europeans who came here during colonial times were criminals and that Europe was just dumping its human trash onto America?

I'm not trying to excuse all of this, I'm just proving what I said right: That history is repeating itself. Isn't it ironic though that all of the things that Europeans brought to the Natives are the EXACT same things that Mexicans are bringing to Americans?

No one has an issue with LEGAL immigrants only ILLEGAL. Just like France, Spain and Italy, no country wants people there illegally. So why should America be any different? America wants and needs LEGAL immigrants. With LEGAL being the operative word why is that so hard for people to understand?

It's not about legal immigration, it's about illegal immigration. At any given time there are around 100,000 people waiting patiently to get into the USA, and they are from all around the world. They jumped through all the hoops, fulfilled all the requirements, and are waiting their turn to come here. Illegal immigrants essentially jumped in front of the line by sneaking across the border. Besides, how can you have a secure country with people sneaking into it freely?

The controversy is about "illegal" immigrants. Our nation's early immigrants entered this country legally and made America what it is today. We don't need people entering this country who think nothing about breaking the law in order to come to America.

Unless you are 100% native American your ancestors were immigrants. I on the other hand am not a immigrant i was born and raised in the good old USA.
I feel that the problem with new immigrants is that we have to many people here the way it is. I have lived in the same area my hole life. It disgusts me to see how this area has grown up. I used to be surrounded by fields and farms. Now it is all shops and fast food restaurants. That is not the fault of immigrants, but it doesn't help when we need more housing, and more jobs. Also what is the un-employment rate, why do they have to come and take our jobs?

There is no controversy over LEGAL immigration. That is fine and good. The controversy is about ILLEGAL trespassers calling themselves immigrant's, when they're NOT. They are criminals, lawbreakers, abuser's and user's of the American citizens, and taxpayers. The laws they break besides entering a country that is not theirs, are outrageous! Illegals commit more crime in America, than white American's, and make our country insecure. I hope you are not blind to it.
America is in danger of illegal aliens and their crimes.

The controversy is not over new immigrants.
It's about illegal aliens (people from other countries who have not gone through the legal immigration procedures to be here).

The controversy is not about immigrants but ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS. USA is open to people who wish to come here to live if they apply for immigration. We do not want people who swim across a river or crawl through a desert to work here and send their earnings home to Mexico. Let Mexico give them work and sustenance.

when you do it in a legal way is nothing wrong with it...but when they just come over and stay with no right to be here, that's when things start to stink...I'm an immigrant and I have to pay my way here I had to go thru so much paper work and interviews and so on. spend countless hours on line for a 5 minutes interview..lots of money before you can put a foot in the USA..but I'm proud that I did it the way....I can walk with my head up and not have to face this kind of discrimination
