We're here cause we are told to be here, agree or not. However, we do get to kill insurgents and help out the iraqi civilians, who for the most part really appreciate what we are doing here, unlike the media would have you believe. If you really want to find out what we are doing here, join the Marines, you'll get a close up look at what's happening.

The mission is to establish security in Iraq. The troops are there to hold the line until the Iraqi Army is trained enough to resume its duties. Now the problems begin. It is taking much longer to train the Iraqi Army than anticipated. Part of the problem is a percentage of the "recruits" are actually insurgents who just want the training and equipment. Corruption among Iraqi officers is another problem. I think this new initiative might work, however. The number if U.S. advisors assigned to Iraqi units will increase five-fold. This should accelerate the training and make it a bit easier to weed out the insurgents from the rest of the recruits. Two things need to happen in Iraq. First, the Iraqi Army needs to be up and running. Second, the Iraqi people need to develop a national identity in addition to a religious one. Currently, they don't see themselves as Iraqis. They see themselves as Sunni or Shia. Therein lies the problem.

They are putting thier lives on the line so that you can continnue to enjoy another 60 years of relative peace that our fore fathers fought for in World War 2.
Unless terrorists are effectively dealt with NOW, 9/11 will be nothing to what future the terrorists have in mind for the West !
Unfortunately, the poiliticians and humanitarians kept interfering and heaping confusion and frustrations into the minds of our highly trained Armed Forces therby from stopping them form completing the job they had been sent there to do whilst George W Bush was still riding the crest of the biggest political crest of the wave of his career - even bigger than when it was announced he was President !
Once the decision had been made, and common-sense went out the window, all the politicians had to do was make sure the Military had EVERYTHING they needed to get the job done with a minimum of fuss and in the shortest time possible without political interference.
The Military know what they have to do, and how they are going to achieve thier aims... to get in, get the job completed then get out.
Support them.
Many think the same way as you do I'm sure, but they signed up and have been trained to do specific jobs no-one one else wants to do.
Don't waste their skills or tax-payers money in paying for thier training...

They're taking orders from the higher command like all soldiers do. You see, soldiers don't ask questions. They just do as they're told and if death is part of the mission, so be it. They are not suppose to get involved in politics.
This is one of the reasons why I'd never join any military branch. You live like a robot. You're programmed to do whatever you're told even if you disagree with it. You have little free will and that's not all right with me. People say that being in the military is patriotic and that you're serving your country. Well, I disagree because at any given moment a politician who isn't serving his/her country can take power and send you to another country to die for his glory, not the glory of your country. So you become a mercenary and all of that "you're serving your country" talk becomes useless.
So, they're their to do what every soldier does. Not ask questions and do as the commander tells you.

"As for Benjamin.....You must be a supporter of John Kerry."
Nope, you're wrong, try again.
"To say people in the military are robots and don't have free will. What are basing your information on?"
Ummm, the 5000 year old fact that soldiers do as their commanders tell them and that they have no right to say "no" to a command. That is lack of free will. Not being allowed to do what you think is right is a lack of free will. Not being allowed to refuse to fight in a war without a prison sentence is a lack of free will and all of this is part of the military culture.
"You never served in the military so how can you talk about what goes on in the military?"
I don't have to serve in the military to know what goes on in it. I can easily read books about it and other literature written by soldiers and gain knowledge of what goes on in the army, airforce, navy, etc... Saying that I have to be in the military to understand it is as stupid as saying that one had to live through the Holocaust to understand what went on in it.
"Do us all a favor and educate yourself before you open your mouth."
You should do yourself a favor and educate yourself that way next time you don't make a fool out of yourself generalizing anyone who's not supportive of the military as a John Kerry supporter. You should also educate yourself about logical fallacy because you pulled off a major logical fallacy with your "you need to be in the military to understand it" comment. As for me? Know that I do mean to be arrogant when I say this (but it's the truth) but I'm far more educated that you'll ever be.
"Overall, they are there fighting terrorist. They took the battle away from the U.S. and brought it to the terrorist door step."
Wishful thinking. More Americans are dying in the hands of Islamic extremists than ever before. So you didn't take the terrorists/battle away from America, you just took America to the terrorists/battle.

The soldiers in Iraq are doing their part to help Bush's fascist party establish an Amerikan [sic] colony in the middle-east to act as a home base. This "base" will be used as a place to hold our troops while Bush and his goons play Twister to decide where to attack next. After that is decided we will attack the country chosen and do the same thing we are doing now, enslaving the people, creating a base, taking oil, and establishing another colony. After we eliminate the middle-east we will have enough people enslaved for us to take over the rest of the world. I myself do not agree with the war that is taking place and do not support the theory I have just created.
