Because white people originally came from Europe, where the climate is often cold so a pointy nose is created to breathe in the cold air. Also, some Asians, especially Japanese, can have pointy noses too. I'm Vietnamese but I have a rather pointy nose when I look to the side. I might have some Japanese ancestry!!

It's not the white people, it the culture of that particular white person that has a pointy nose. Generally speaking, persons of British Isles, German, Italian etc. decent have pointy noses. Myself, I'm a 'white' person yet have more of a rounded 'button' nose. My family culture decent is English, Dutch, French. I think my nose shape comes from the Dutch heritage...not sure. But, this 'white' woman certainly does not have a pointy nose.

When I went to Taiwan,China and Japan this year. I had many people stare at my big white nose . It was funny but what little I understood some thought it was unique . Some older grandmother types laughed and one even touch the tip of my nose with her finger and then ran away laughing. I took it in good fun and enjoy the differences in cultures.
I have had a black girl friend and I thought her nose was attractive . I have also had a Chinese girlfriend and I thought her nose was very cute.
It is the differences that attract one another to each other.
There was nothing wrong with nose we are born with. It's just the pimples on the end that may need a little help :)

The pigments in the skin over time have caused the nose to become pointy , and I would like to commend you on your acute observation and challenge you to track white noses in the upcoming years . You will see more and more white noses becoming very very pointy in fact so pointy that it might be downright scary.

It is an adaptation as some people have mentioned. Pointy, longer noses warm the air of very cold climates before it gets into the lungs much better than small, shorter noses. Just as lighter skin absorbs sunlight and makes vitamin D better. So, that a small amount of exposed skin is just as efficient as darker, larger amounts of skin.

Environmental differences in the various regions that humans were cultivated..er...setteled in. The prototype had larger noses due to the dry, arid regions fo their origin. Also quick access to oxygen for chasing, fighting, or running. Noses adapted to suit the long term needs of a population. The smaller noses became a heat saving measure, and the need for scent detection was less necessary as the town, and agriculture developed. Mid eastern types are adjusted for a cooling effect, and protection from sand. Much in the same way that Brown bears traveled northward and evolved into the polar bear. Its just an adaptation that took centuries to develope.

Because many areas of Europe in which Europeans adapted, especially the Mediterranean, were filled with volanos, and thus volcanic ash and dust in the air. Longer more protruding noses consequently have a longer nasal passage which serves to better filter the contaminated air being inhaled.
