Why isnt my old Toshiba tv compatible with Ps2 ?

i have tried adjusting the tv set up to ntsc4.43,3.58,secam...the pal version only gives me jumpy screens...

u have the hook up with the red white and yellow cable? if so you need to change the TV to say av1 av2 etc, whichever port you plugged it into if you have more than one plug-in, and if you only have spots for white and red on the TV, try putting the yellow one in the red spot instead and keep white in the white, in newer devices they changed the functions of red and yellow
