Don't listen to all of the persons telling you spanish is easier! That's not true at all! Spanish has 16 verb tenses while French has only 9 or 10, and you only use quite a few. I learned both languages and I found french way too easier than spanish since most of the conjugations in french are pronounced the same. In general Spanish Grammar is harder than French Grammar. The only easy part of learning spanish is the pronunciation compared to the french one which is throaty and nasal.

I am originally from the US but am living in Mexico working on my masters degree. I went to Mexico to become bilingual, which I am now after living there for 2 years. I would tell you that Spanish nor French or easy languages, especially if your first language is English. English speakers struggle with speaking second languages, especially the Romance Languages because it seems as if you are talking backwards. Also French and Spanish involve alot of congregating/changing of verbs. I would say learn the language that you will have the most opportunity to use. In my case it is Spanish. Decide what is best for you. Just keep in mind that they are both challenging languages, I say go for it. Speaking a second or even a third language is always an ASSET. Fluency in other languages can only enhance and enrich your life.

I was taking spanish for years and I have just starting taking french and let me tell you french for me is much more fun, interesting, and easier. French is not as hard as people say it is. It's like taking any other language. There are going to be things easier about it and harder about it. It's also helpful if your teacher is from France(like mine is). Spanish was always so annoying to me. French is cool because a lot of people think it's hard so if you know it they'll be really impressed. French is a beautiful language and way better than spanish! So take my advice and learn french!

I think Spanish is better because is the second language more important, in America there are a lot of Spanish speakers, in french there are â, à, î ... it´s difficult, the pronunciation in french is more difficult, but in Spanish you have to say exactly what are you reading, in Spanish when you find a ´ on a vowel, that syllable is the stronger in the word, not like in french, and the last one is because I'm Spanish and I love my language.
Merry Christmas!

Hmm...that's a tough decision.
Spanish is more practical, since it is spoken by more people.
French seems to have more "prestige" and "culture" and I know this sounds kind of elitist, but if you know French, you will be respected more. And Spanish speakers are more willing to speak English than French speakers -- much more!
On difficulty: Grammar wise, both French and Spanish have the same difficulty level, but French pronunciation can be a pain in the azz, so Spanish is a bit easier.
But remember: if you learn one Latin language, all the others will be a breeze, because they all pretty much have the same verb patterns and similar words..

on an analogous time as Spanish is the main particularly spoken language of the three, you may desire to additionally evaluate very own issues like the place you reside and the place you will stay or pass to. working example, a Canadian could discover discovering French simpler, and a US citizen could use Spanish maximum often, oftentimes. Italian could desire to be the least functional language, yet like French and Spanish, there are various wallet of persons around the international who communicate the language.

There are no "better" language. Both are Latin languages, so I guess you can find more words with common roots, than with German or Dutch.
I don't know for Spanish, but French can appear uneasy since there are many exceptions to the grammar rules, for example. But unless you want to study French litterature classics, you shouldn't be so afraid. As in any language, the more you practice, the more you can use it, the better it is.
As for their use, Spanish is mostly spoken in Latin America, in Spain and 2 or 3 countries in Africa.
French is spoken in a more diversified list of places : eastern Canada, Western Europe, in many places in Africa (Maghreb or "Black" Africa), in Cambodia, Lebanon, and some places here and there in Oceania.
Both languages give names to towns and places in USA (for French even states : Maine, Vermont and Louisiana derive directly from French).
Make your choice...

I took French and regret it a little. They are both romance languages and really very similar in difficulty, but I think that Spanish is more useful.
