Most replies are right about losing to much weight at one time, but if you try this cardio work out, it will help much faster than just jogging or walking. and don't starve your self. first cut back on calories. if a person weighs 200 lbs they halve to eat 2000 Cal's just to maintain. anything more you will gain, anything less you will loss. OK now, think of your body as a car on the highway on Cruise control. It uses less gas right. that is because your not working the engine as hard as you would in the city stopping and going Right. this works the same as your heart. it's a 20 min routine. start out with a fast pace walk for the first 5 Min's to get you heart going. when the clock hits 5:45 go into a full sprint for 15 secs then go back to the fast walk when the clock hits 6:00. do this over and over again until the 15th Minuit. use the last five Min's to cool down. by doing this, it causes your heart to work harder by making it adjust back and forth between walking and the running, thus burning more calories like the gas in the car in the city.

Do something like the master cleanse.. This website has all the information you need and a support group when you feel like times are tough: http://therawfoodsite.com/mastercleanse.htm I don't know if you will lose 20 pounds but you may if you do this by the book. I did it for 3 days and lost 7 pounds which I never gained back (I eat healthy now), however I was unable to do it for longer because of my schedule and my lack of disipline. This way you will detox all the toxins in your body for what i will suggest next: Why not make it a new years resolution for yourself to get yourself healthy in a healthy way? Eating a balanced diet and exersize. It will take time but it will be worth it and by next new years you can rock it with your new bod...
A lot of time food is an issue with people, including myself. It is very easy to eat emotionally or to fill a void. But what has helped me is realizing food is only food and should be used in order to provide our body energy to function. When you really, really realize this, cravings will seem so far from what you want. I wish you the best of luck!

I'm seriously really sick of these types of questions. Losing weight doesn't happen overnight. People don't become fat overnight either. It's not easy to lose weight. Next time, go to the ask box, type in I want to lose weight quick, and about 20,000 similar questions will pop up. And you'll get the same exact answers: IMPOSSIBLE. Weight loss can only be done through diet and exercise. You eat right and you exercise. Food does have to be bought...so I guess that is out of the question.

You might be able to lose 6-7 lbs by starving yourself and cut upwards of 6-7 more by dehydrating yourself to an unhealthy degree, but uhh . . . Save for nearly killing yourself, it isn't possible to get even close to that, I'm afraid.
To maintain the average weight with the average activity level (for someone that exercises daily), the body needs about 2,500 calories. For the body to fluxuate one pound in either direction takes 3,500 calories. So even simply going a week without food wouldn't lose you that weight, though it may nearly kill you.
Best to start leading a healthy lifestyle now so you won't have to worry about this ever again. Sorry there's no miracles out there.

Amputation.
The safe weight loss rate is 1-2 pounds per week. You're wanting 20 pounds in 9 days. Even if you do lose that weight, it will all come back plus a few pounds.

It is unhealthy to lose 20 lbs in such short notice. It's advisable to lose 1-2 lbs a week. You can have liposuction if you really really need to get rid of the 20lbs before new year's.

Bulimia is forced vomiting up of food after eating it. See fat loss tips for more on it. Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic load. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin and healthy. Find out about fastest way to lose weight, most effective exercise, good and bad carbs, water retention and secret trick used by models to flatten their tummy before an event.
Reading a book will take you hours but the information on a post, taking minutes to read, is not enough. The webpage below has just enough to know what you need to know. Links page has gov. BMI calculater to find out just how much overweight you are (teens plug in your age to compare to others your age). Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

Um... swimming is a reliable thank you to lose various weight, alongside with working and cycling. consume much less, workout extra. yet have faith me, 20 pounds in 4 weeks is amazingly risky. attempt doing 10 in 4 weeks as a substitute, then drop 10 extra in 4 extra weeks. that's lots fit and safer. Please do it intently!
