I need to find a Photoshop-like program that is easy to use that I can download (for free) that will allow me to crop, brighten, and do most of the other things that Photoshop does.

GIMP, but you have to run Linux for it ;-)
Most software for Linux is free, and doesn't have trojans or worms or key loggers or other malware prevalent in most 'free' windows software.

Photoshop is a very advanced program which has lots of things to do: retouching, etc... Find a free photo editing...it will usually have more fun accesories. Or you can update iphoto (if you have a mac) or update your photo software. -Pippa

does everything photoshop does.. and its free.. go open source!!!

Maybe Microsoft Picture It Publishing, but I don't even think that is free.

I agree. Picassa 2 is AWESOME. (Not to mention free) I have bought many programs.. and none of them are as good as Picassa.
