Do you think that, should a draft be enlisted, women should have to go to?

Women receive the same privileges men do. They have all the same political, and economic rights. They can run for President, they can vote, they can be CEO's of bulti- billion dollar companies, they receive all the same governmental privileges as men do. If a draft was to be enlisted, do you think women ought to go this time?

If they're drafted, I don't think it's a bad thing. Women have proven themselves to be capable in the field, and I think they could be a real asset.

The draft in a war like this would be rediculous because the war isn't vital to our survival... really it's doing nothing except expending our country's resources. But if a SERIOUS war with a real need for military strength happened, then yes, both genders should be equally drafted. Women may not be put in the same situations as men because of the old-fashioned military, but I believe that if one PERSON has an obligation to "serve" then all PEOPLE should have that same obligation.

As a former military member.... (read it all before you decide I'm a sexist pig!)

No. While I see the disparity, and completely understand your view on it, my own experiences have lead me to believe differently.

When I first joined the military I firmly believed that if women wanted equality, let them have it. Let them go to the front lines, why can't they do the same job.

I found two problems with that view.
1) The VAST majority of jobs women can do equal to men, but won't (sounds sexist, but keep reading). Men out-number the women in the military, as such men trample each other to compete for even the slightest attention. You would never believe what I've seen women get away with.... and I don't blame them I blame the guys who produce it! Most women enlist expecting to pull their weight, but power corrupts.... The simple truth is that their gender gives them power. An example for the doubters.... During my first deployment virtually everyone I worked with was working toward a specific medal. To get the medal you received hundreds of hours of training and as you trained you would get signatures of specific accomplishment (again HUNDREDS of signatures). When you had all of the signatures you had to pass a written exam, and after that you had an oral exam from a dozen "experts". Remember all of this was done on your "free" time. Men would get it done in 6 - 12 months. I worked very closely with 5 women who RECEIVED the same medal.... All of them spent less than 3 days to complete the signatures, 1 of those took the written test and failed (don't worry she put on the water works and they changed her score), NONE took the the oral exam. Once again I blame the idiot men who let themselves be walked on!

2) There are jobs that most women can't do.... That's not to say NO woman can, but we aren't talking about extremely fit, strong women, we're talking about average Jane 18, 19, 20 years old who is now enlisted against their will. The women that CHOOSE to "bust their hump" could certainly pull there weight (I've seen female backpacking friends do it for years) but women that don't want to be there and develop that strength, won't.

NO. I am a female Veteran. I obviously am not scared of going into the armed forces. But there is still a big difference in what females do in the military compaired to what men do. ONLY IN A WAR TIME SITUATION. Women do the same as me other times, but women should not be expected to be in the field. Although women could handle it and do the same things the man could. It is a fact that the men would try and save a woman if the need came up, a get themselves into a possibly dangerous situation. It's just not a smart move.

Honestly, I think that it's crappy that anyone can be drafted ... I think that is something you should choose to do on your own. I think that were all equal, and should be treated that way but I dont think thats a womans place unless she feel it should be. Same for men
