she didn't just bake it, she came home to her apartment at 11:30 at night and baked it for me. I could also tell she put a lot of time into it. but ever since then she hasn't really been paying me much attention. perhaps she's waiting for me?

Maybe she was thinking that because it was your b-day and that you were truly deserving and special enough for her to prepare you a cake for you.
Did you thank her for baking you a cake?
What was your reaction after she prepared the cake for you?
If she hasn't payed you much attention, maybe you should call to check on her and invite her out on a date.......maybe she wants you to pursue her a bit....(nothing wrong with that)
If you are interested in this woman....you better get a plan in mind before she moves on to someone else.....

She really likes you and was trying to impress you with her cooking skills since she put so much time into it. If she just wanted to give you a cake she could have just bought one and not put so much time and care into it.
