Because People Believe what they WANT to believe. And, sadly, they seem to want to hate other people.

I dont know why he had a sword, but that isn't the reason Jesus was killed. He was killed because He was a threat..The prophecies put Him as being a king, and the Romans didnt want to hear that there was competition. Also, to some religions and people He was beleived to be blasphemous.
Yes, the Romans arrested Him..But the leader actually didn't want to kill Him. He offered to free Him, but the people decided they wanted the bad guy set free instead. Then, if I remember correctly, the ruler sent Him off to be crusified, 'only' because His own people wanted it. Jews 'included'.
As a christian, I dont blame the Jews..I blame the 'people' of that time, not the Jews or Romans or anyone specific. There are good and bad within every group.
Blessings and Love

Peter had a sword because Jesus told them to buy swords (Luke 22:38). Christians who say the Jews killed Jesus do so because it was the Priests who were always looking for a way to kill him, and it was the Priests who tried Jesus then brought him before the Romans, and it was two Romans of high standing who did not find any reason to kill Jesus, but the Jews cried out to crucify him. Pilate was in a difficult position because he was a supporter of a man named Sejanus who betrayed the Roman Empire and thus Pilate couldn't anger the wrong people, if he angered the Jewish mob he might have ultimately led to his own destruction beacuse of the part he played with Sejanus. The Romans had no reason to kill Jesus, he wasn't going against any of their laws, and was not threatening any kind of rebellion.

Peter probably had a sword to protect Jesus. Wouldn't you? The whole Christian thing was against the law what difference would a sword make. Do you think that maybe Peter was going to kill him? Yes Jews killed Jesus. You act like Jesus gave them a choice.

Let's review what the bible has to say, which should be the source of information about these things, shall we? The bible tells us that Pilate, the Roman governor, sought to free Jesus. The Jewish leadership told Pilate that if Pilate indeed let Jesus go, he was "no friend of Ceasar". The bible says that even Pilate knew that these Jewish "leaders" had handed Jesus over to him "out of envy". Remember that many of the followers of Jesus were Jewish! Therefore, it is not the Jews in general who killed Jesus. The bible plainly tells us that many of the Jewish leaders were threatened by Jesus, they plotted to kill him, and they stirred up the crowd against Him.
Jews as a people were not responsible for the death of Jesus on the cross. Some very envious people, the Jewish leaders of the time, who did not want to lose their important position, sought his death. But most importantly, Jesus said no one took His life from Him, that He laid it down. He went to the cross willingly, to pay for the sins even of those who sought His death.

1) I am Christian.
2) I do not believe it was only the Jews who killed Jesus.
3) I believe you and I killed Jesus.
4) Jesus gave himself for the World. It was all within His control; he could have been his own savior, thus he would not have been our Savior.
It was not only you and me who killed Jesus, it was a collective effort of all mankind. He was hung on the Cross; our sins held Him there until it was finished. He breathed His last for your sake, then He rose from the dead. Later He would ascend to heaven to be seated at the right hand of God.

You sound like you know everything.
Jews now are, and were then, very influential in politics. Think about the motivation to kill Jesus and who had it most. Jesus' preachings were damaging to the jews' influence and they could not allow it. It's pretty easy to figure out.
Your question is pretty asinine. It's what they call "loaded." You contend that it is a "false belief" when, at best, you know no more than anyone else.

Good question re Peter. The Tibetian Buddahists had a chronicle of Jesus' life as given by traveling merchants. This chronicle said Jesus was killed by the Romans as they viewed him as a threat. I suppose you had to be there to have the whole truth.

People of Israel then were allowed to have swords, weapons for personal defense against highwaymen, robbers, thieves, etc. BUT they would not have been allowed to have WMD (weapons of mass destruction) that they could use against the occupying Roman forces.

Why do you care?
The Roman soldiers killed Him under the order of the Jewish leaders. Pontious Pilate (ROMAN GOVERNOR) didn't want to kill an "innocent man". He let the people and leaders of Jesus' "jurisdiction" make the decision...try reading the Bible in context next time.

Actually, it was both the Romans and the Jews. The Romans did the deed, but the Jews played a part as well.
