Gel is used to stiffen in a particular style and has a hold similar but stronger than hair spray

Clay is used to create texture and a finish

Putty is used for sculpting and molding, gives texture and definition

I think the best choice for you is putty. Gel just makes your hair dry and shrinks it, as you've experienced already. Research different brands of putty. Good luck!

My husband uses this stuff by V05 called "play it again". It's a putty and I think that's what you're looking for. You just towel dry your hair, and then put about a dime size amount in your hand and rub your hands or fingers together. You don't want to use a lot of this because it's very sticky, but it holds like super glue and you can do you hair any which way you please and it will stay. Also it is a reworkable putty, so if you decide you need to redo your hair later on in the day, it will work with you.

Hair only gets thin when the root dies or stops growing. That can only happen if you plug up the hair follicle and prevent the hair from growing as it should. If you are not removing it properly when shampooing (and many people don't), you can cause problems. If the hair root is still alive, it will produce hair when you get it cleaned up. There are many ways to style your hair with the proper hold and not have to do it every day! If I had to do that every day, I'd rather go bald! I have important things to do rather than spend all that time on hair. You need to learn a few good styling techniques.
