People would be appalled if the Lord God Almighty actually told them to go and do the things that they end up actually doing on Christmas! And yet they do them still, and wreck their and many other lives in the process! This is because Christmas as it is celebrated now in popular society is nothing more than a massive campaign of excess commercialism that begets excesses in other areas. It is built up as a giant carnival atmosphere that delights the kiddies and pushes the adults to perform like monkeys for them.
As a result, the stress mounts, the adults fail to live up to the dream in their sugar plum brains, the kids complain and make it worse, the adults go for the Jack Daniels and vintage shotgun on the wall and we have another kind of carnival--the kind I sometimes listen to on the police radio on Christmas eve.
I think it'd be better to light candles, drink a toast to Jesus Christ whose birthday we celebrate on Dec. 25 (even if it isn't his real birthday) and have a "Happy Birthday Jesus" cake and forget about getting run over in order to get the last "Wii."
Forgive my rant! But I went sour on Christmas because of a family member's bad emotional state at the holidays....ok, back to your regularly scheduled madness!

A number of people take Christmas to do so; other takes it as just another day for shopping and yes visits families, peripatetic and so on.

It is just another day to me. I don't do Holidays because of their origin. I serve only one God and that is the Father in the heavens.
