The early church in the Book of Acts. Some people believe that was a socialist economy. Others believe that Jesus' emphasis on sharing and kindness towards one neighbor basically was saying 'start up your communities with Socialism.).. I think the latter is a bit far fetched. I don't think Jesus was a socialist, but did indeed promote some of those ideas.
Some, like myself, also believe that Christianity promotes true anarchy. You can go to Wikipedia and read about 'Christian Socialism' and 'Christian Anarchism'.
Peace.

I imagine it would be the fact that Jesus encouraged those with more (financially and monetarily) to share it with those less fortunate. But I have to say that Jesus did not say this should be compulsory. To whom much is given, much is required. Socialism is an attempt to make this compulsory, without choice. Jesus always gave us a choice. He didn't say, "take care of my sheep or you will go to hell"...He said,"IF you love me, take care of my sheep". This is a far cry from socialism saying "You WILL take care of the less fortunate, just as soon as I can get my own fingers out of the cookie jar".

There are whole schools of thought with regards to Christian values influencing Karl Marx and I'm sure a good library would find to ten books on the subject. Certainly Christ was anti wealth and lived communally with his followers so you can see the link.

Jesus told his disciples that they should take all they have and give it to the poor and to follow him. This implies a lack of personal property, with any wealth or property being held by the group. This tends to be somewhat reminiscent of socialism.

Socialism? No. But his "it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man enter heaven" sounds vaguely Marxist.

Socialism is about using government force to make everything the property of society. Jesus was not pro force and he was not pro government.
People naively think socialism is nice (everything is free) and Jesus was nice (forgive, turn the other cheek, etc.).

Can anyone who really understands humanity say that Jesus was a humanist? Or perhaps he was just a human bean, or should I say human Bean.
