abdominal pain lower left side

I don't know for sure what you have, as I am no doctor, and you really need to get it checked, esp. if it happens often. Myself, I have diversticulitus, and it always flares up in the lower-left quadron of your side. It is in the colon, where there is diverticuli which is normal. Does things you eat like popcorn bother you? Or have you noticed whether it has any thing to do with what you eat? If it is diversticulitus, it is an infection in your diverticuli and is dangerous. Go to the doctor! A lot of people over the age of 40 have this, and as we age we get diversticulosis, which is normal as well. But if it gets bad, then they have to remove the portion of your colon most affected by the diversticulitus with one surgery, then reconnect it when it is healed. IT is a very painful condition, and the pain isn't always there, only when we eat the wrong things. I looked it up on the internet, as I have just gotten over a BAD flare up. Bed rest (resting the colon) and liquid diet until the pain subsides. If that doesn't help, then the doctor will give you antibiotics for the infection. Milk of Magnesia will also relieve the pain along with Tylenol. See the DOCTOR this isn't something you want to mess with. A high fiber diet is recommended, like the green vegetables, but not raw ones, lots of water, etc. (fruits that has fiber, oranges,bananas etc.)

I have answered a similar question to this before. it could be any number of things, appendicitis being the most obvious answer. but also, if you are female, it could be to do with your period. if it due in a few days, some women feel the egg removing itself from the ovary before it travels down towards the uterus. i get this pain myself sometimes and know that it is just my period. if you are worried though, you should see your doctor.
