I've got an idea, sortof a dessert kind of dish. You can make up your own mind!
Coconut Ice Shapes
Ingredients:
1 small can of condensed milk
250g ice sugar
175g desiccated coconut
2 food colourings
baking tray or plate, 2 bowls
sieve, wooden spoon, blunt knife

STEP1: Open the tin of milk and pour it into a bowl; sieve in the icing sugar.
STEP2: Mix the sugar and milk.
STEP3: Add the coconut and stir. It should be very stiff.
STEP4: Divide the dough into two and put one piece in each bowl.
STEP5: Add a little colouring to each piece and knead it in.
STEP6: Press out each piece into a flat circle, about 1 ½ cms thick.
STEP7: Press the circles together.
STEP8: Cut up into shapes when hardened.
STEP9: Enjoy!

I would suggest a big tray of veggies .... cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, celery and either or both green / black olives. Everyone's Xmas dinner table is loaded with fat , yummy foods so why not bring some yummy veggies to go along with it?!!? I know my family loves the fresh veggies in additional to all the traditional stuff! Happy Holidays!

Everybody loves the tray with the pickles, black & green olives, baby carrots, chips, and a dip in the bowl in the middle.
Or make homemade cranberry sauce, sooooo easy & good. A homemade pumpkin pie with whipped cream is also a classic.
Most of the time, unless it's really unusual, or you can't boil water right, people are glad to see homemade food & will welcome whatever you bring :)
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

i like pumpkin dip. it sounds kinda gross if you dont like pumpkin, but it doesnt taste a thing like pumpkin!
basically, it is:
8 oz. softened cream cheese
15 oz. canned pumkin
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 tbsp pumpkin pie spice
(if no pumpkin pie spice is handy:
1 tsp. ground ginger
2 tsp. ground cinnamon)
blend the cheese and suger together, and then add the other ingredients. serve it chilled with slices of apple, or pears, or gingersnaps.

other great wasy to get dessert ideas is to look on the side panel of boxes of gingersnaps.
