I'm not trying to be rude here, I'm just blunt. I don't think any tattoo placement defines sexual preference - ever. If you are worried about what others will think, or if they will question that preference, you have bigger things to worry about and address than where a tattoo should go! As far as how it looks, it all depends on the design. If it is letters, than I would say the general perception is anything across the belly like that is stereotypically pretty "trailer-park" or "gang-bangerish." I have a ton of ink, so I'm usually not quick to judge. However, if I saw letters across your lower belly, I would likely judge and think you were trashy, had a gang affiliation, or were trying way too hard to be a thug or falsely project a hard-a@@ vibe. My mind wouldn't even go down the road of your partner gender preferences...I would only question your character and your security about who you are. Clearly you are insecure about this decision, so I would suggest a different placement since you are worried so much about what others will think. If not, you will always be concerned about it and may possibly regret the piece at a later stage. To answer your question, I'm a guy...married, straight, and a bit floored at this question!

Those tramp stamps don't look that good on girls. The other day I was driving and saw this guy walking wihtout a shirt on and I thought he had a tattoo on his lower back but the closer I got, I realized it was a big patch of hair. So the moral of the story is get a tat somewhere else that will look hot and not like a nasty hair patch.

I think it is great! Are you religous or part of a fraternity? Any kind of Japanese art would look good, like a koi or dragon. Maybe get a pin up girl? I have tons of ideas, just don't know what your likes are. Go to www.miami-ink.com and look at the artists gallery for more ideas. Good luck with your tat. Don't listen to what others say or think, be true to yourself.

well i dont think it matters on any gender where you get a tat. But remember to put it somewhere you wont regret. some dude told you on your neck. i wouldnt. done that. now i regret it. when im 60 it will be on my shoulder. Trust me dont get it on your kneck.
and if you are gonna put it on ur lower back no matter what id get something manily like a fender strat. or something dudeish you like. And small. But if i was you i would put it more up and get a big one. I think on the forearm is the sexiest on a man
you could always get a happy trail going down there;) hehe
but remember do something you like
cuz your stuck with it for life

uhh, yeah my thoughts are that people will mistake you for being gay when they see you have a tattoo on your lower back. dude, my sister has a tattoo on her lower back. get one on your bicep, or what my cousin did, on the back of his ankle, that looks pretty cool. but YOU have to choose YOUR own tattoo, it has to be something that you'll remember forever. good luck!

Really depends on the tat. If ur gonna get it on ur lower back it really needs to be symbolic of masculinity, so it wont look like ur gay.... Like have u seen Bams tat below his bellybutton? Something like that, tribal or strong, I think that would be unique and kinda hot if u got the right thing there.

as long as it's not right in the middle of the lower back, then it won't look straight

Do what you want...it's your body and only the current physical manifestation of your eternal spirit. It's yours to do with as you wish. You can't take it with you anyway!

by saying you are straight, you mean you are free of drugs or you are not gay?? and what is your purpose of getting tattoo. After having an idea about you, then we can start the design.

Meh. To me, it doesn't matter where a guy gets a tat.
Just my personal opinion.
