is the child booster seat that came in my volvo xc90 safe for a 3.5 yr old?

wondering if I need to buy a booster seat or if I can use the one that is "installed" in the middle seat

the child is suposed to be in car seat untill 4 years old or 80 pounds. after a booster seat can be used, which includes the factory installed one.

mikej is correct. In addition to the 80 pounds, 4'-9" is the rule for booster seats. The factory installed booster seat in your Volvo is certified to meet the National Transportation Safety standards for passenger vehicles. Purchasing a new seat would not be necessary, unless your child likes to sit next to the window.
