This isn't a political question. Really.

Well, for one thing, it's normal so don't let it be more of an issue than it should be. One good thing to do is openly admit it to the person that you're on the date with. The other person maybe just as nervous or excited as you are. Once you get it out in the open, try to have fun and do some fun things and stop concentrating on your nerves.

Now go ahead and give me Best Answer...cause you know that sounds great, right?

Ask them questions - let them do the talking. Figure out what they like to do and ask them about it. Even if you know everything there is to know about it, ask them about it. Get their perspective. Are you in school? What classes do they take? How do they like their teachers? Do they do sports? Any clubs they are involved in? Really, anything. Just get them talking. You'll start thinking of more stuff to say as you guys get comfortable with one another.

BTW, this is a great reason to stay up on current events, like politics and what's going on in your community, out in the world. It makes you more interesting, gives you stuff to talk about. Ask them about the war in Iraq. Do they support it? (That would be unbelievable, but I suppose anything is possible.) How do they feel about our troops being blown to bits? Do they think the president is the dumbest cretin to ever walk the planet?

There's nothing wrong with silence, either. Don't feel like you are boring or a loser if you don't talk. A lot of times people feel they need to "fill up the space." Don't. Just be yourself, and if that is quiet, well, that is an attractive quality in itself!

Have fun!

if i were you, i would start with a friendly hug...then just talk about how both of your days were, etc....if you dont know him too well, then ask him some questions that may open the door to a good conversation....maybe what type of work he does or whatever. if you already know him well enough...then give him compliments on how hes dressed or something.
