My dog had this. lf it is down to the muscle take him to the hospital, but if it is just bleeding then I would not waste my money. put some hydrogen peroxide on it and put some hydrocortizone or some type of cream to help it heal and stop the itching then bandage it. To keep him from biting it, try bandaging it with gauze wrap and put a handkercheif or sweater on your dog. This worked for me. His hair may need to be cut so that the wound can be fully cleaned.

Could be several things, a hot spot, irritation like a splinter, allergy or the dog could be having pain in that area. I had a dog chew in to his hip muscle because the joints hurt from arthritis. Good Luck

That is called a "hot spot" and you need to stop this behaviour. I would suggest a "Victorian collar" until it heals, and find out why this spot is troubling them, by taking them to the vet.
You might also want to purchase antibiotic cream from your vet as well.

My dog has a similar problem. They called them "hot spots." We keep yelling at him for biting at himself when we see it, but sometimes we don't see it until morning when he has dug at it all night. We have tried all kinds of remedies.
