No. When a person "impersonates a police officer" he commits acts that would be in the execution of the office of a police officer, such as pulling over a car, serving a warrant or arresting someone, reporting to a criminal matter as a police office, etc. If a person wearing a uniform similar to that of a police officer and acted out as a police official then he could be charged.

It depends upon your intent. If you are wearing them to flaunt them and use them for benefit or control of a situiation or for force, YES it is a crime and punishible. I would not suggest it if they are standard issue and authentic. However, after market hats, shirts jackets and the like are sold at flea markets, truck stops and many other places for use. I wear a state police hat, FBI hat, IRS hat, and others and have no problem with the police. I don't comit crimes either other than breathing and I'm sure there is a law somewhere about that especially in OHIO . Better yet, wear an www.infowars.com shirt. That will get their goat cause they will know you are informed Citizen and have knowledge of their treason. Have fun

Why would you want people to think that you are a LEO?!? I think someone already mentioned it, but a lot of people hate LEOs. I never tell people what I do for a living and I make sure that there is nothing LE related on my POV or laying out in plain sight. You would be making yourself a target, Darwin at work. What you describe above sounds like you are a real wanna-be (that is not a compliment). You are going to attract a lot of attention from real LEOs (HINT: attracting the attention of LE is not a good thing). Also if you have any aspirations of actually becoming a LEO you can kiss them goodbye. In my state the lightbar is illegal, only authorized vehicles are permitted. Depending on your actions while playing dress-up, it would be possible to hook you for impersonation.

You can wear a shirt that says Police on it or a hat that says Police as long as you don't wear the some thing that the "Real" police department wears. However if you ever attempt to arrest someone and say that you are a police officer then you have crossed the line and could be arrested!

Not if there are no official patches, or others markings, or ornaments on it to indicate that they are a member of the police department. Wearing a plain **** and hat which the police dept.uses does NOT constitute impersonation a police officer.

Wearing police clothes is not impersonating an officer but arresting or showing someone a fake badge to get info is. Actually thats a felony. Merry Christmas!

Nah just say your going to a costume party if any give you trouble, but mainly impersonating a police officer is against the law when it is verbal, like telling someone your a cop to get them to do something to your benefit.

If you are talking about the baseball caps that say "Police" or "NYPD" Those are OK.
You cannot wear a raid jacket (a windbreaker) that says "Police" on the back, or anything that might cause someone to believe that you are a police officer.
