Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith is believing without seeing, trusting in what you don't know for sure. You can't have faith in what God's done because you've seen Him do it. You have to trust that He did. In the end you lose nothing by trusting Jesus, and can only gain everything by accepting Him.

"Faith, thats another word for ignorance isn't?"
-ignorance is lack of knowledge; but when you have faith, you know all the things that are stacked up against you, you just choose to believe the things that may seem ridiculous to others
"I never understood how people could be so proud believeing in
something with no proof at all, like that's an achievement."
-you try doing it, it IS an achievement. everything in our nature tells us to doubt & worry even when we have all the proof necessary
"God is asking for our trust. You can't love somebody and not trust them."
-that's absolutely right. you can't love God & not trust him, you can't trust God & not love him. he wants both
"Trust has to be earned. You can't trust somebody hiding in a
closet."
-completely agree... but you also have to give someone the chance to earn your trust. you have to be willing to be vulnerable & open yourself up. usually it's us hiding in the closet not wanting to let God in to help us

I don't really watch TV, but I heard of that. It's surprising a network would let that through the censor, but that's probably the most realistic part of the show -- scientists are seldom religious.
It's nice to hear of a positive portrayal of atheism on TV for once.

House...Dr. Gregory House is a fictional character. I don't know what Hugh Laurie believes or doesn't believe.
What if he didn't believe in peanut butter...should we all quit eating peanut butter? I know that is a smart-elic approach, but I don't and won't build or destroy my beliefs by what a fictional character believes.
