I haven't really found any cure for shin splints but I can help! If you have stair place the front of you feet on the step and let the rest of you foot hang over the edge. Then lower the back of you foot until you can feel your legs tighten. Hold that for about a minute. This won't make the pain go away at first but it makes you legs stronger and able to work more. Soon you shouldn't have problems with shin splints. This might work and it might not. It worked for me!! So I hope that I helped!! So go ahead and try that and after you do that for awhile, if you notice any difference then great!! Good Luck!!

sometimes it's your shoes. If they are more then 6 months old....replace them. Also, try pulling the tongue of the shoe up higher, then tie the laces directly on top of the tongue, and slightly tighter. I was a runner for 16 years, and I got shin splints out of the blue, and my boss told me it was how I was tying my shoes. Changes the pressure on the tendon/ligament that runs from the top of the foot up the front of your leg This fix worked for me, but you will also have to give the shin splints time to heal first...hope this helps.

If you already have them for over 48 hours you should heat it and rest as much as you can elavate too. And to prevent them try not to wear sandals, also try no to run on hard surfaces as much, shoes make a big difference too, Old shoes become to raged and don't give you as much cushion as you need expecially if your athletic. There is a lot of things you can do to prevent them but if you already have them the best thing you can do is to rest even if you don't want to i play 3 sports and i'm on 4 different teams right now and i hate to have to sit out but if i have shin splints the worst thing to do is to play with them cause the longer you have them the harder it is to get rid of them

ok what i do (cause i get it quite often) is a strap the calf muscle up against the shin bone, that is take your muscle from the inside of your leg and push up and in onto the bone and strap it along the length of your leg. Also massage aome anti-inflammatory gel. Shins splints is from over soing it/over exercising and its painful cause the muscle is pullling of from the bone!! So take it easy for the next couple of months!!!

Ice it first, after any exercise.
Braces will not help. The pain is caused by the muscle next to your shin bone. Massage it regularly, stretch before and after every game, and ice after the game too. Ask your doctor if you can take anti-inflammatory medication.

You really need to take some of the shock out of the heel-strike when you run or jump. Try some sorbothane heel inserts in your (good) shoes, and stop and ice whenever you can. If that doesn't do, and especially if the pain is prolonged or if new symptoms appear, you'll want to see an orthopedist.
