"I will kill this person if you do not deny Christ." What do you do? Deny Christ or not?

I'm asking this because many years ago I was given this ultimatum. Fortunately, I gave the right answer.

No, actually, many years ago I was asked this question and have always wondered how Christians would answer it.

We don't know what we will say unless we are put in that situation. Many Christians in history were put to death when someone gave them the ultimatum of deny Christ and live or profess the faith and die. They chose not to deny Christ but to boldly profess him, and because of their courage and devotion to God, they were put to death by evil people. They are the martyrs, and there have been a lot of them even the modern day. It gets ignored or under reported by the secular media.

One example of a martyrdom that happened in America was the columbine shooting spree. The guy asked a girl if she was a Christian. She told him she was, and he shot her in the head because of it.

I cannot speak for other beleivers of the word of god but will answer your question. Being a christian I don't think god would have placed a person in such a position unless it was that persons time to go. Satan however will always try and leverage things to his advantage. I would say as a true believer all I can do is pray for your forgivness and your victims soul. I cannot save anyones life but my own. A persons soul however is different. Nothing can take my soul away from god, many things however might take my life.

It's happened many times. Read Foxe's Book of Martyrs. In China today when preachers of the Gospel are imprisoned often their families suffer severe consequences. The government watches the family to see if anyone helps them and if they do they are accused of being counter-revolutionaries and arrested. Your question is not theoretical, it is common experience for Christians in many places.
