i understand that you are trying to be happy and cheerful.

so i will try not to be mean here,

Jesus is not the reason for the season. Pope Gregory 13 is.

You see the birthdate of Jesus is unknown, but most bible scholars believe that it was either early spring or late fall.
because the shepards were in the fields at the time. and the shepards would not be in the fields in the middle of the winter.

Pope Gregory, placed the celebration of the birth of Christ on the 25 of december to coincice with a Pagan Holiday that happens durring that time of year. the Winter solstice can be as early as dec 21 or as late as jan 6. the median date is the 25th of december. this was done to win converts to the Christian church.

by all means celebrate anytime that you want to. but please respect the rest of the world and recognise that other people have been celebrating at this time of year for much longer than Christianity has been around. the quote "Jesus is the reason for the season" had some good intentions when it was made. the idea was that the holiday was not about commercialism and money but about family and celebration. but when i hear it now, it is usually in the contest of Jesus being the one true reason for this entire time of year. this is a completly false assumption.

with that being said. noone has any claim to this time of year.

so yes have a Merry Christmas

a Happy Kwanza

Happy Hanukkah

and a peacful Winter Solstice or Yule.
