We would be if the story were true. Of course, that might explain all the incest, bestiality , and other sexual perversions and crimes practiced and committed by fundamentalist Christians.

If Eve had been a clone, they she would have been the same gender as Adam. As she was not, then she was not a clone. When God took the material from Adam, he "reversed" everything about it (male to female being most obvious). Adam and Eve were as genetic different from each other as possible. This reduced the problem of "inbreeding" during the first couple generations when only a handful of related people were available for marriage. If you read the genealogy of the first generations, you will find that they were over 100 years of age before they had children. While they had no choice but to "inbred", it was not done while they were children, and had no choice in the matter as is normal with most incest today. Rather they were consenting adults doing what was necessary to produce the human race. Once the population had grown to where it was no longer required, God placed restrictions on "inbreeding".

To answer your first question Eve was not a clone because even though she was made out of one Adam's ribs she was her own person. I guess the reason for God doing this is because he wanted to make Adam feel a close connection with Eve not only as a fellow human being but as a person who shares the same flesh and spirit with him. To answer the second question I would say no but it is difficult to say where did the people come from that they had children with. The ultimate answer is only God knows and there are some things that we will never know. Just keep the faith.

This is one of Many stories, that are in a book called the Bible. Each edition of it, is printed by Mankind. (Unless God himself is visibliy at the machines re-printing them, which if that were the case, I m certain he'd be in the news by now).

No One has EVER claimed that They have lived on this earth Since the book was made. Therefore, we have No proof that the Bible was not Re-written over the ages of Earth's time.

I believe, that Most of it, was written by mankind. And Any whom says other wise, They better have proof.

Now I do Believe in God, in fact, I have More Faith in His Love then most reilgious folk I have seen.

For faith, is KNOWING that the Lord, Loves, and that I need not Ever doubt, so if I do not doubt, there is no need to follow a church, read a book, nor otherwise.

And (if this part of the Bible is true ), Jesus claimed that one person had More Faith then All he had seen. And that man was a Tax collector. Whom had asked Jesus to heal his servant, yet that he did not feel worthy of Jesus's presence, But that if he said it so, that his servant would be healed.

Jesus smiled large, and pointed out to every one in the crowd, that this man had the Most Faith.

Almost EVERY religious person, is a Hyprocrite. Just as Jesus saw in his day, they would question HIS Faith because he would not do as the old TEXTS Bible said.

So too, do the Hyprocrites of Today judge the Most Faithfull followers of God Today.

Look to the One whom doesn't go to church and please the crowd s eye's. And walks His Own path with confidence of God 's Love. For HE is the Way , and the Light.

what a silly question, but i'm sure you thought it was really intelligent...anyway, some words: adam in hebrew means mankind. thus, when the text says 'god created adam' it means 'god created mankind'. so that caps your question about where people who believe in the story think the sons of adam and eve got wives from. haven't you read the story yourself closely, or did you just pick up scraps from other people.

Anyway, essentially what you've got in the adam & eve story is an allegorical explanation for the state of humankind. Genesis provides multiple stories to explain the origins of humans, and adam & eve is just one of these stories. do you really think the jews believed literally that there was this garden and eve got made out of adam's ribs? ridiculous, they weren't idiots. they knew how to treat stories, very powerful things but not things that are meant to be taken literally. evangelical christians need to learn this...

Clones...lol

.They were not the only one on the planet, and the Bible says no such thing.

My ancestors were there along with hominids before during and after the days of Adam and Eve. In fact one of my distant aunts, aunt Noddie, married old man Caine. The Bible verifies that by saying that Caine left and went to the land of "Nod".

The Bible was a book about the Jewish bloodline from Adam and Eve to Jesus. The Bible was written by the Jews, for the Jews, and about the daily lives of the Jews. (Have you ever noticed that all the names in the Bible are Jewish. except for Saul who changed his name to Paul)

The Bible has 10 places where the jews meet, fight, and co mingle with the non- Jews. The Bible originally called these other non Jews, "other people" or "strangers". In the new testament these other people were called gentiles.

Are you you're mother's clone? Besides...if you will check there are actually two creation stories in Genesis. It could be that the Adam and Eve story is an allegory. I mean... think about it...when they were in the garden they were there to take care of the plants and animals. After they ate of the tree of knowledge what changed? Their attitudes! Now taking care of the plants and animals was work, same job, different attitude.

If you read in Genesis, Adam and Eve's sons have kids out of the blue. There were other humans on Earth at the time. I consider the Adam and Eve story to be a history of a particular region.

This reminds me of the old saying about how we "can't believe everything we read"... or at least makes me believe even more that it can't always be taken in a literal sense. The Bible is not truthfully the word of God, but rather Man's interpretation of the word of God. It was the hands of Man that wrote it, whether actually hearing God speak to them or not; the writers of the various editions and versions wrote on the Bibles' pages what THEY believed to be the messages from God, and since each of those people was an individual, each version may have differences within it, just as all Man has them - everyone is different, and if we were to all write our own versions of the Bible, each would be unique. But it still wouldn't change the fact that it was the hands of Humanity, not of God himself, that wrote each one.

The Adam and Eve thing is just a parable... it never really happened. I think the Gnostics or most probably the early Christian prophets who wrote the early Christian bible felt that they had to write such stories to enable the common person to gain an uncomplicated understanding of the Christian movement (the story about Sodom and Gomorrah definitely went too far though... maybe they were drunk at the time [or maybe it's the fundamentalist christian movement's misintepretation of it {or both}]).

I have a theory. I think that the story of Adam and Eve is told in the bible because it's the beginning of Jesus' family. It never says that other people weren't created. I believe there were more people created after Adam and Eve and that's how people multiplied. If you keep reading and get to the "begats" you'll see what I mean. It goes all the way to Joseph....Jesus' father.
