Ok, i'm looking for a light (sky) blue temporary hair dye. It can be in any form: cream/gel/spray...doesn't matter. But I have black hair to start with...which is difficult. I've heard Manic Panic Dyehard is good - but will it work on black hair? I could mix blue and silver to get the right colour i guess. Any other ideas?

black hair? only way is to either bleach, which is permanent, or spray, which is washable.

You wont get a light sky blue hair if you are starting with dark hair unless you bleach or dye hair a blonde colour. The lighter the base the better the result is - especially with these light blue colours you really need a pale lemon or white starting colour to get a really vibrant colour. If you try to use a light blue colour over dark hair at best you may get a tint to your hair but nothing major i'm afraid. A dark blue would give a more obvious sheen to your hair but again it would only be a tint and not vibrant unless you lighten your hair first.

Special Effects and Manic Panic both have sky blue type colours but you can also 'dilute' them with conditioner or a toner/mixer to make more pastel customised colours.

The following page shows lots of blue hair dye results:

You can see a list of Special Effects and Manic Panic dyes that may work on dark hair here:

You can see more information on bleaching etc here:

Hope this helps

if you have black hair and you want it sky blue u have a long way to go
first you have to bleach it almost baby blond then put a purplr tomer in it to cancel the yellow so that when you put the blue in it it doesnt take green then when you do put the blue in it the color will come out because by bleaching it you permanently opened the cutile making it hard to hold in dye
my advice try this on a patch in the back of your head no larger then a quarter and find out for yourself

girls say if you have black hair you gotta bleach it, to a blonde color, for easier dying experience. they tell me that cuz i have a natural really really reallly reaaaaaaally light blonde hair color, and always wanting to die my hair. but as for temporary, i;d say blue hair gel or spray. like, my sister does that for homecomnigs and stuff as school spirits. i thnik she buys that stuff from like, sallys beauty supplies i guess? or spencers, thay have some hair sprays, and maybe hot topic..

if you have naturally black hair manic panic will just tint it. if you go to like spencers i think, they have spray that will probably work better.
