Cool mist humidifiers are great. I've used Dimetapp and Baby Tylenol cough and cold with my daughter, both worked very well. Vicks also has a new vaporizer that uses little pads soaked in the Vicks that you just plug in, doesn't use any water, those also help open up her nasal and lung passages, it's about $20 at the store.

If she's over one year and has no history of allergies, you can try a cup of warm chamomile tea with honey and lemon juice in it. Or just some hot water and honey mixed together (just to the consistency of cough syrup) and give her a couple of tsp full. I find that these things work best with my 33 month old. Cough syrup can taste pretty gross and it can be harmful in too high doses. Honey, on the other hand, is safe to suck down straight out of the bottle and will just give a sugar-high. Just be absolutely positive that your child has no allergies to honey and is older than a year.

Triaminic cough strips really work like a charm! The best thing is the strips melt in there mouth so they can't really hurry and spit it out iF they don't like it.

In addition to the cold remedies, try pulling the milk for a few days. My Dr always said to stop the milk when conjested. it seems to make everything thicker..and it really seems to be true. Just give fruit juice..maybe diluted with a little water.

There is a medicine called delsym. It is a wonderful cough medicine. It has really worked for us. I looked up the link for it so you can read about it. It comes in natural orange flavor. I don't like to give combined medicines, so this is just for cough.

Lots of fluids, moist air (steam, but not to close to little one) and percussion helps. To percuss your toddler, lay him/her over your lap or over your shoulder and cup your hand. Then gently thump little one on back. Should make sort of popping noise if done right - just DON'T do it very hard. The repitition is soothing and the gentle percussion helps to break up mucous.

try taking him in the bathroom shut the door and turn the hot water on in the shower like you were going to take a shower for about 15-20 minutes tells its really steamy in there you cant see hell breath in the steam and itll help break up mucus in his chest and it should help lots with the coughing it works with my son and my parents did it with me, also it you have a vicks vaporizer you can put around him like when hes awake in the living room or in his bedroom when hes/shes asleep, these always work good for my son, also they have baby vicks now for babies so you could use that on his chest and on his feet with socks on and light onsie or clothing on good luck
