Is it normal to feel uncomfortable eating around other people as I find it impossiblt to eat when there are other people around, it even annoys me when my family are sitting at the table eating at the same time as me.

It's considered generally unacceptable to eat in front of other people without offering them some food, since it could make them feel bad if you are eating and they aren't.

As far as not wanting to eat while other people are eating, that surprises me, since sharing a meal together is usually an enjoyable social activity. I wonder exactly what it is that makes you feel uncomfortable in this situation. Perhaps you could seek the help of a psychologist with this.

I know what you mean...But I only feel comfortable eating with my family or closest friends, however when I am in a place with other people eating I feel weird. Like they are watching me and making fun of how funny I look while I'm

I know what you mean. Your just not comfortable with others watching what you are eating. "Are they going to say something about if i take another helping of that?"

I get the same feeling when i go to large family gatherings. I feel way uncomfortable around certain family members.

I don't like eating around my one brother, only because its the way he eats his food.

In public, I will not eat unless I have a friend eating along side of me. Which is why I never go out to eat alone.

It's not eating around people that disturbs me, it's watching and listening to them.

I think the best you can do is try to get a good conversation going to get your mind off the fact that you're watching them chew and they annoy the hell out of you....

My ex-girlfriend was just like you. It's jsut like everything else, after some time, you sort of get used to it. Try for a while drinking around poeple (waters, sodas, etc). Then move to candy bars, small snacks.

after a while she could eat huuuge dinners infront of me haha.

I don't like to eat around other people. I just feel like I'm a sloppy eater and I don't want other people to see it.

No this is not normal. Families eating together is a bonding experience. You have intimacy issues.
