i have a inspiron B120 and just got for an early chrismas present a hp
deskjet 722c and a IBM scanner, i need to be able to connect my printer to my scanner and my scanner to my computer, but i don't have a parallel port.

Little do they know, YES people there is a USB to parallel cable. Check you local Staples or computer store. We can help more if you tell us what type of port are on your scanner, printer and computer, but like I said there is a USB to parallel cable, I dont know if you need male of female but I saw it at a Staples store, try www.staples.com

look carefully at your devices, sometimes they have both USB and parallel at the back of some printers look carefully.

There's no such thing as USB to parallel cable. This is because USB and parallel ports operate at different voltage levels. And there are no devices on the market that convert one to the other.

The best way for you to do is to buy a parallel printer card, and plug the card into one of the PC expansion slots in your computer's motherboard (your motherboard should have a vacant expansion slot, but check first to make sure before you buy). Parallel printer cards normally costs from $25 upwards, so they are not that expensive.

The easiest (and perhaps only) way of solving this problem is buying a USB splitter, which you can find at CompUSA, among many other computer stores
