Most people think that hens lay 1 egg per day, but that is almost never true unless they are given all kinds of antibiotics. A natural farm hen or bantam in good health will lay about 3 to 6 eggs a week, when they get a little older (like 2 years or more, production may drop down to 2 to 5 eggs a week) but as they get older the eggs they produce are often bigger. It also depends on how many daylight hours they get in a day. I live in Canada, and I have to provide artificial light in the winter if I want my hens to lay. They normaly need at least 12 hours of daylight to produce eggs, but 15 hours is the best.

Hope this helps, and Merry Christmas!

Mine lays every other day sometimes everyday. I noticed that when I feed her food that is formulated to encourage laying. She lays more often than if she just runs around the yard eating bugs and stuff.

All chickens lay about one egg a day.
Some will lay more and some may lay less.
