Before flaming me I just want to say that I am referring to a minority of atheists that I have met. Atheists don't believe in God. Fine I accept their beliefs. However a minority of atheists I have met feel they have to look down on me as someone believing in God. That I don't believe is right. Some atheists (or maybe most) believe that religion has caused a lot of problems. Yet some adopt that same idea of we're superior to you like some spiritualists. I find this insulting. Can't we all just get along regardless of whether we believe in God?

The same reason some Christians are judgemental.

Some atheists will look down on people who believe in God just as some religious people look down on those who don't. I happen to be an atheist myself and I have no problem with people who do believe in God. Atheists usually don't believe in God either because they think those who do are being stupid and ignorant, or they believe in science more than a higher being to explain why the world works the way it does. It is true, however (and this opinion can go for everone, not just atheists) that religion has caused a lot of conflicts: Religious wars, discrimination, and a lot of money spent on those things has happened in the name of someone's God, but that doesn't mean that believing in God is always a bad thing; a lot of charity groups and other organizations to help people have been started by religious groups, so I think that anyone who thinks they are better than another becase of what they believe is pretty stupid.

I think Atheists require empirical truths that can be demonstrated repeatedly and therefore get annoyed when people disseminate Pseudo Science based on religion as an alternative to there world view.

Real science undergoes ruthless peer review and is torn down and dismissed unless it can back up its claims.

Creationists and Intelligent Designers claim they have a better understanding of the possess of nature and the universe yet there claims do not even stand up to the simplest scrutiny yet they still want these lies to be taught to children along side real science.
This is what I personally object to in the religious agenda.

If a person is of faith I say good on ya but personally I cannot achieve that level of dis-belief.

Take what you reported and replace the word "atheist" with "Christians" and you will understand why. "maximum Christians that i've got encountered think of that every person who isn't on their area of the argument are beside the point and of much less intelligence. they seem to assume that they are greater suitable through fact they understand greater suitable and that they do no longer choose have a communicate approximately their ideals, they only opt to belittle others for being diverse. Why is that this?" decide no longer lest ye be judged. I been judged my total existence via so noted as loving Christians, so now I by way of their hypocrisy right back of their face each and every possibility that i'm getting.

If we answer, are we being judgmental? A certain percent of any population will be judgmental.

Your question may be more of Why aren't some atheists accepting of others' faiths? Along those lines I would add...Why do some vegetarians look down on non-vegetarians? or Why do non-smokers look down on smokers?

I think some atheists believe we are some how hurting ourselves by deceiving ourselves.

Some people are just plain judgemental. It has nothing to do with the person's religion or lack thereof - as proof I offer the numerous judgemental Christians on this site, and the even more numerous Christians who are not.

You need to look beyond what the words are to the character of the person spouting them.

The same reason people join the KKK.

Low self-image, and the only way they feel they can bolster it, is by attacking other people.

It doesn't matter whether they latch on Race, Religion, Political Party, the little pinks have something they think makes them better than others, and need to attack anyone different from themselves, in order to prove it.

If they can drag someone else down, or feel they have done it, then they can feel smug and superior.

As long as Christianity, as well as several of the other "ultimate truths", have as their end and gleefully sought after goal, the END OF THE WORLD, and as long as they believe that their rights are being violated if they are denied the opportunity to use the coercive power of the state to shove their god down every ones throat, you will have to put up with us being in your face. Why should we abandon a forum where we can let you know that you will not be allowed to carry out the silly "End Times" rubbish that you seem to forget would include the rest of us.

That would be nice, but atheists think that they know soooo much, well see who know what in the after life. seriously. there worldly view leads them to believe that they are these self made, self sufficient beings, and in all there wisdom that don't seem to take a second and think, that maybe they are wrong and that there is some one else out there in control. To me that seems like a sad existence.

no we cannot get along if we dont all believe in the same god. We must battle, tear families apart, get into wars for many years, that arn't actualy calssified as a war realy, we must burn and loot and hate and look down upon others.

And we also must lighty spank each other too, especialy if we are not of the same religions, and wear lingerae and stuff, and moan like, WEhhhhghh.

There's judgemental people on all sides of the fence. For every atheist who thinks Christians are stupid for believing in God, there's a Christian who thinks atheists are stupid for NOT believing in God. Really, no side is better or worse in the broad scope of things.
