The bad part about smoking after wisdom teeth extraction is the actual sucking. You'll suck your scabs off. Same thing with a straw. Don't do it. Yuck, and it hurts.

It really is best not to smoke at all. Avoid the wine and you won't want a smoke. You shouldn't have either the day before or for a few days after the surgery.
Good luck.

Smoking BEFORE getting your teeth pulled won't hurt the socket, but if you have pretty much quit, you should just not do it anyway.

The sucking action of smoking could dislodge the clot and you DO NOT want dry socket. I hear it is the most excruciating dental pain. NO giving oral pleasure either ;)

What a bunch of HORRIBLE answers. HE ASKED IF HE CAN SMOKE BEFORE YOU IDIOTS! You can smoke up to the time of your surgery with no negative side effects. Drink wine and smoke it up, I fully support you!

Among other things, nicotene in cigarette smoke does constrict blood vessels- and I'm not really sure how long it lasts. If I were you, I would stop now.
