Leukemia is easy enough to test for: I'm surprised your vet hasn't done it already! Cats can be leukemia positive for years without showing symptoms, so don't let that fool you. Do you also own his brother? If he is FLV positive his brother most likely is, too.
Meanwhile, white/albino animals often have difficulty with their eyes or ears. If his eyes are pink or blue, he could be light sensitive or truly vision impaired. If that's all it is, don't worry too much. He shouldn't go outdoors on his own, but he will learn to navigate just fine indoors as long as you protect him from other animals, children or changes in the floor plan (even things left on the floor that could hurt him). If his brother is in the same house and sees normally, he might even guide the other cat.

I'm not sure what you mean by "pint gums". Do you mean pink gums? The usual symptoms of feline leukemia are as follows:
Depression
Weight loss
Decreased appetite
Constipation or diarrhea
Enlarged lymph nodes
Respiratory distress
Excessive drinking and urination
I just read an article about having the test for feline leukemia sent out to a lab, as opposed to in-office, for the best confirmation, especially if the cat appears to be otherwise healthy. False positive tests are more common than true positive tests. The test is called IFA (immunoffuorescent assay).

Have him tested. then you will know for sure. Also when I got my cat, years ago, when it was 2 months old I had it tested for feline lukiemia. They told me she had a slight case and that someday she would get sick and die. I cried my head off for days. went to another vet for a second opinion and they went ahead and gave her the vacine and she lived a happy long life and was never sick. If is is caught early, sometimes the vacine will be enough to ward the disease off. This is what I was tod and it worked. Good luck! I love cats too! I have never heard of losing sight as a side effect of the disease, and I have done alot of research on the subject.

Take your cat to the vets, get him tested, but if he does have it I would suggest maybe putting him down before he feels pain form it cos otherwise that will be very hard for the both of you, just a suggestion, good luck though I really hope he doens't have or get it,keep on taking him to the vets like at least every one/two months if he doesn't have it though and then if he gets it they can catch it early :) Good luck!
