I can't hear people's voices from my speakers during DVD movies that i play in my copmuter. Help?

i ahve lieka cheap pair of acoustics speakers that i got for 20 dollars. They work alright, but when i put in a DVD, i can't hear the voice so wel. What settin gshould i switch so i can hear voices better. When i stream videos on lline, i can hear just fine, i don't htink its my pallyer, i've tried it on InterVideo,. Windows Media, VLC, and so on wiht all quite sounds, but hte internet video works fine, so does microphone audio wiht instant messengers. i woudl appreciate any help ASAP, and no i am not going to rreturn the speakers, ince it is way too late for that. Give me som e good advice i fu have any. Thanks
