Don't cut the whiskers. That's a bad, bad owner. The thing is, cruel kids do that to cats so that the cat is off-balance. It's like when someone's inner-ear is out of whack. Those whiskers have extremely sensitive nerves attached to them, so the cat knows where it's going and the dimensions of a room. It'll start running into things if you cut them off, but of course it'll survive, unless you plan on making it walk a narrow bridge over a pit of lava.
They WILL grow back, but it'll take time, and your cat may never want to snuggle with you again.

Actually you have a good question there. I did not think you were suppose to touch them (cut them) but I believe that I came across some information when I adopted my cat stating that you should trim them if they're getting too long. They will grow back, like any other hair. I just cannot recall where I read this at the moment- maybe try typing this in on an Internet search or ask a Veterinarian.

This question gets asked a lot! NEVER cut off a cats whiskers they use them to sence in the dark and to determine if they will fit through a space. It is considered animal curelty and if reported, you could be fined, jailed, and your cat will be taken away from you. Yes, they will grow back, the do naturally and yes the cat will sirvive, but it might have a tough time of it.

Don't.your cat uses them also to test whether it can go through tight spaces along with the aid in smelling and tasting. Asking if it is OK to cut them off without a medical reason is like wondering if it is OK to pluck your eye out and will you see again. Yes the whiskers will grow back but your cat may suffer emotional stress and may not trust you to touch it if you do.

A cats whiskers are used to sense the distance of doorways - to help them navigate. My kitty was hit by a car once and her face had to be shaved so they could surgically correct a jaw injury. She had to walk around without whiskers until they grew back. She would bump into things because she did not have them to 'tell' her how close she was to things...like doorways and walls. Your cat will not die, but he/she can hurt himself by bumping into things when you cut off the whiskers. Let them grow back and be good to your pet. Also...do not trim whiskers, they grow out to the width of the animals body, they need that length to know if they can fit through openings they need to cross through.

When you cut of their whiskers, it hurts when you do that. It's kinda like someone pulling a bunch of hair out of your head. Sometimes it depends on the cat sometimes the whiskers will grow back for some cats and for other cats they won't grow back. It just depends. GOOD LUCK!!

You really, really, shouldn't cut off your cat's whiskers. Your cat will survive, but they use them for feeling around in the dark, and it would be like if you lost some of your sense of touch.

it will survive but its a very bad thing to do. A cat uses its whiskers to aid in balance, navigation and smell. They are full of tons of sensitive nerves and actually cutting tham will cause your cat alot of pain. They will grow back but its not worth it for your cats sake.

I have always heard that if you cut a cat's whiskers off that the cat will lose it's balance. I have never done this so i couldn't tell you if it is true or not but people tell me that is how they keep their balance.
I would say the cat would not die and it will grow back.
